Holiday Gift Card Extravaganza
Beginning during the 2008 holiday season, the communities generous donations of gift cards allowed the Council to supply a $25 gift card to 315 children involved with the CASA program. The children were treated to a day out with their CASA to “Buy anything they wanted” with their own card. For many of the children, this was the first time they had been taken to the store and allowed to pick out something just for themselves. Some of the children chose things for other members of their family or foster family because it made them feel good to buy something for others.
The program was a wonderful success for everyone and will be continued in the future.
Holiday Trees
Each year, holiday trees are located in various stores and businesses in Tucson, Sahuarita and Green Valley. They are decorated with envelopes requesting gift cards to fulfill a CASA child’s holiday wish list. The Holiday Trees are a way for concerned members of the community to brighten the holiday of a CASA child in need.
The CASA program is always in need of gift cards from local businesses, discount and department stores, movie theaters, bookstores, toy stores, hairdressers, etc. If your business or organization would like to help us fulfill the wishes of these children, please contact us at 575-5130.
Oktoberfest
Every year the Knights of Columbus raise funds for CASA by hosting Oktoberfest. A great time is had by all while enjoying a traditional brats, sauerkraut and german potato salad dinner. There is also a terrific polka band to entertain you. This years dinner will be held on October 17, 2010 at their clubhouse.
