Scholarship Program
CASA Support Council of Pima County Scholarship Program
Scholarships are available for present or former CASA children of the Pima County Juvenile Court. The scholarship funds may be used to attend any accredited vocational, trade, or technical school; junior or community college; or four-year college or university.
In addition, the funds may be used for tuition, fees, and books. They also may be used for other needs, such as living expenses, with prior approval.
Awards are $1000 per academic year. Exceptions may be made based on individual need or circumstances. The scholarship may be combined with other grants, scholarships, or loans.
Eligibility to Apply:
- Must be a present or former CASA child of the Pima County Juvenile Court.
- Must be a high-school senior or graduate (including GED).
Application Process:
- Priority will be given to applications received by March 1 for fall admission. The final application deadline is June 30.
- Initial application is for one academic year.
- Submit the attached application forms, including a statement of your educational goals and an essay stating why you deserve a scholarship.
- Provide two letters of recommendation. One of these is a personal reference from your CASA, CPS caseworker, or church or youth-organization leader. The remaining letter is an academic reference from your school principal, teacher, or counselor.
- All applicants will be interviewed by the CASA Scholarship Committee.
Distribution of Scholarship Funds:
- The student must provide documentation of high-school graduation or GED certification and documentation of admission to the accredited learning institution the student plans to attend.
- Tuition and institutional fees will be paid directly to the institution upon receipt of a copy of the bill.
- The student should submit receipts for reimbursement for other expenses (e.g., books).
- Continued funding depends on satisfactory progress. Grade transcripts must be submitted at the end of each semester. The scholarship may be revoked if the individual does not remain a part- or full-time student in good standing or if the student does not register for classes for two consecutive semesters.
Additional Years of Scholarship Support
- Requests for additional years of support will be evaluated on the basis of continued satisfactory progress. Submit an official school transcript showing courses completed and grades to date. In addition, you will need to submit a list of courses you are currently enrolled in.
